Gregg Alan Bostelman, 63 of Grand Island died, Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Pavuk officiating. Inurnment of the ashes will be in Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island. The family will be receiving friends, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or GRACE Foundation. Gregg Alan Bostelman was born, December 27, 1953 in Fairbury, Nebraska, the son of Dwayne & Avis (Pingel) Bostelman. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Chester, Nebraska, February 28, 1954, and confirmed at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior. He grew up in Superior, Nebraska, graduating from Superior High School with the class of 1972. He attended Tyler Junior College, and later Central Community College in Hastings, where he played baseball.
He was united in marriage to Joni Smith, March 19, 1977 at Cozad, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Omaha for a year before moving to Grand Island where he was employed by the city of Grand Island for the last 40 years and the last 24 years as the Parks Superintendent.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Grand Island, one of the founders of the Nebraska Chapter of Sports Turf Managers Association, and the Nebraska Turf Grass Association, president. Gregg enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time at his family farm by Steele City, NE. His greatest love was his family.
Gregg is survived by his wife: Joni Bostelman of Grand Island; sons: Blake Bostelman and special friend Claire Abelbeck of Lincoln, and Lucas Bostelman of Grand Island; parents: Dwayne and Avis Bostelman of Superior; brother: Bruce (Jan) Bostelman of Brainard, NE; sister: Jolene (Lonnie) Pohlman of Milford, NE.
