Christian Biography of H. B. "Fritz" Wehrman, Jr.
Homer B. "Fritz" Wehrman, Jr., the son of Homer B. and Esther (Long) Wehrman, was born on July 19, 1927 in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on June 18, 2019 at the Providence Place at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 10 months, 30 days.
Fritz was one of three children, he grew up attending school in Nelson, and graduated from Nelson High School. He enlisted with the United States Navy in October of 1944 and was discharged in June of 1946 serving during WW II. He returned to Nelson where he was engaged in farming.
He was united in marriage to Betty Williams on October 16, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. Together they raised their family on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska.
Fritz was a member of the NCUCC and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and talking about farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty on August 18, 2010; and 2 sisters Kathleen Wehrman Mieth and Elizabeth Wehrman.
Survivors include his son, David (Carol) Wehrman of Goodyear, Arizona; daughter, Margaret (William) Camby of Juniata, Nebraska; son, Joseph (Pam) Wehrman of Nelson, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Jeffrey and Bradley Wehrman, William Camby, Jr., Heather Camby Osten, Michael, Douglas and Juliann Wehrman Krotzinger; and 12 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 am from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Pastor Joyce Dean officiating.
Music was "How Great Thou Art," and "In The Garden," with Stephanie Thayer as the soloist and Carlita Price her accompanist.
Visitation was held on Friday from 4 to 8 with the family present from 6-7 to greet friends.
Pallbearers were Jeff Wehrman, Brad Wehrman, Mike Wehrman, Doug Wehrman, William Camby, Jr., Ryan Osten and Eric Krotzinger. Honorary Pallbearers were Heather Camby-Osten and Juliann Wehrman-Krotzinger.
Interment with Military Honors was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to go to the Nelson Community United Church of Christ.
