Christian Biography of Heral ReJean Schultz

Heral ReJean (Jensen) Schultz, the second child of Harold and Katherine (Lewer) Jensen, was born on June 2, 1934 on a farm near Lawrence, NE. She passed away on May 11, 2019 in Deshler, NE at Parkview Haven nursing home at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Heral Jean attended Beach Country School and graduated from Superior High School. She first began her career as a teacher at both Cadams and Valley Home schools. On March 6, 1955 Heral Jean was united in marriage to Keith Schultz at Superior, NE and to this union was born four children; Brenda, Kevin, Katherine and Bradley. After she married Keith, she became a full-time homemaker and dedicated her life to her family. During her lifetime she was involved in many organizations, often leading those groups as the president or other officer. She was a 64 year member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin where she directed the Ladies Chorus and the Senior Choir. She was a member of the Ruskin Women's club for 36 years, serving as president four times during that tenure. She also served a term as state president of the same organization. One of her most prized accomplishments was leading the Farmerette's for 51 years. This singing group was first organized by her mother, Katherine, and was comprised of young farmers wives. They grew in size and notoriety over the years and performed for many events across the region.

Beyond her love for music, her other passion was at the sewing machine. She spent countless hours giving sewing lessons to her daughters, nieces, grandchildren and neighborhood girls. Early on she focused on clothes for herself and her daughters, she made leisure suits for Keith and Kevin, and patched many blue jeans that were necessary for farm work. She made dresses for the girls including a beautiful wedding dress for Brenda. Later on she made ladies lingerie, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. Her sewing business grew from stops at craft fairs to finally having a business in the Lamppost Mall in downtown Superior where her business expanded to include dickies, jewelry and purses.

Another organization dear to Heral Jean was the Spring Creek Cemetery Board. She was the President for 17 years and helped organize the Ruskin Community Foundation which will be her legacy to this organization that will provide funding for maintenance and upkeep of the Spring Creek Cemetery for many years to come. She organized the Memorial Day program to honor our veterans along with the benefit luncheon held annually at the Ruskin Community Center.

A favorite pastime was playing cards. From a simple game of Solitaire, to a lively game of Go Fish and Double Solitaire with her kids and grandkids, to a game of UNO or SkipBo with Keith, she loved her card games. She played many hours of pinochle and bridge with the ladies in Superior as well as spent many evenings with their couples card party groups playing pitch.

Keith and Heral Jean lived on the farm until 1992 when they moved to Superior. Heral Jean followed her children and grandchildren by attending uncountable sporting events, music concerts, and dance recitals.

Heral Jean was preceded in death by her parents, twin infant grandchildren Ethan and Adrienne Hofts, brothers and sisters-in-laws Wayne Moore, Madeline Schultz, Raymond Schultz, Eugene and Geraldine Schultz, Wayne and Ginny Schultz, Edwin and Bertha Mae Schultz, JoAnn Renz, and niece Shelley Hansen.

She is survived by her husband Keith of Superior, NE; their children, Brenda Mesloh and husband Mark of Lincoln, Kevin Schultz and wife Ann of Superior, Kathy Boyles and husband Joe of Mankato, KS and Brad Schultz and wife Deena of Deshler; 10 grandchildren, Nicole Zucker and husband Mike of Bryan, Texas, Chad Meyer and wife Sheena of Denver, Colorado, Cody Meyer and wife Gaby of Windsor, Colorado, Brooke Dirks and husband Taylor of Mobridge, South Dakota, Aaryn Schweitzer and husband Luke of Shickley, Kyle Schultz of Superior, Reed Hofts of Ruskin, Amy Hofts of Bridgeport, Logan Schultz and Amanda Schultz of Deshler; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Johnathan and Benjamin Zucker, Madison and Wyatt Meyer, Lucas Dirks, and Tenley Schweitzer. She is also survived by her sister Loryne Moore of York and brother-in-law Berdon (Cork) Renz of Deshler along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:30 AM from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska with Pastor Lori Kitzing officiating.

Music was recording of "Well Done," by Aaryn Schweitzer and Amanda Schultz, "Because He Lives," "The Lord's Prayer" solo by Brad Schultz, and "Victory In Jesus," with DeeAnn Petersen as organist.

Pallbearers were Heral ReJean's grandsons, Chad Meyer, Cody Meyer, Mike Zucker, Kyle Schultz, Reed Hofts, Logan Schultz, Luke Schweitzer and Taylor Dirks. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Nicole Zucker, Aaryn Schweitzer, Brooke Dirks, Amy Hofts, Amanda Schultz, Sheena Meyer and Gaby Meyer.

Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.

Memorials will be shared between the Spring Creek Cemetery, Bethany Lutheran Church or the Ruskin American Legion Auxiliary.
