Christian Biography of Honey (Hulda) Schaaf

Hulda Ruth Schaaf, the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Swanson) Hudson, was born on December 24, 1930 in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on June 9, 2016 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

Honey was one of seven children; she attended Beaver Country School thru the fifth grade, Superior Public Schools and graduated from Superior High School.

On August 2, 1953 she was united in marriage to Joseph Marshall Schaaf in Superior, and to this union three children were born. Joe was a Postmaster and Honey was a homemaker.

Honey was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1952, United Methodist Women, and Baker's Dozen Extension Club.

Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, puzzles, reading, quilting and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe on January 25, 2003; two brothers Edward and Robert Hudson, and four sisters Mabel Weimer and Maude Wilka who were twins, Millie Houtz, and Mary Ann Robinson.

She is survived by her children Margaret Schaaf of Beatrice, Nebraska; Mona Luebs and husband Kent of Wood River, Nebraska and Jim Schaaf and wife Robin of Beaumont, Texas; three grandchildren Hannah (Luebs) Gloe and husband Matthew, Katelyn Schaaf and Kalli Schaaf; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.

Music was, "How Great Thou Art"and "Take My Hand Precious Lord", with Carlita Price as the organist and Stephanie Thayer as the soloist. A congregational hymn was "Hymn Of Promise".

Pallbearers were Arlo Thayer, Floyd Rothfuss, Les Warneking, Vic Kranau, Kirk Young, Byron Young, and Darrell Fuller.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the First United Methodist Church.
