Christian Biography of Ilene Aurand

Ilene Charlotte Anna Aurand, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Vienop) Fangmeyer, was born on October 1, 1928 in Deshler, Nebraska. She passed away on October 29, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, and 28 days.

Ilene attended school graduating from Chester High School. She was united in marriage to Ward Aurand on August 8, 1987 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska.

Ilene was employed at Big Byron Agra Services in Byron and the Hardy State Bank as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy, their Ladies Aide which is now Lutheran Church Women, the Women's Club in Hardy, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout leader from Brownies to Senior Scout, and she was a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and taking care of her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Clifford Fangmeyer, nephew Paul Fangmeyer, and son-in-law Sonny Payne.

Survivors include her husband Ward Aurand of Courtland, Kansas; daughter Shirley Payne of Hastings, Nebraska; and son Steve Hespen and wife Judy of Carriere, Mississippi; her brother Orville Fangmeyer and wife Sharon of Twenty-nine Palms, California; 4 grandchildren Michael Fry, Marti Spitz and husband Dale, Hunter Hespen and Haley Hespen; 5 great grandchildren Brett Kehn, T.J. Sorsen, and Chloe, Zhoe and Kelsie Fry; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Breen Marie Sipes officiating.

Music was "How Great Thou Art," and "Amazing Grace," solo by Stephanie Thayer with Carlita Price as the organist.

Visitation was held on November 2, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Pallbearers were Myron Eitzmann, Monte Dahl, Jack Clark, Dennis Lauritzen, Clay Aurand and Wes Clark.

Interment was in the Rosemound Cemetery, south Hardy, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to in care of the family to be designated at a later date
