Obituary for Jacqueline Amos Nispel
Jacqueline Marie (Amos) Nispel, made her transition of January 21, 2025. Born in Lincoln, NE on July 19, 1948 to Carl and Pearl (Bohlman) Amos, Jacki was the youngest, by far, of the four Amos kids. She grew up near the University of Nebraska east campus under the watchful eye of her parents and older siblings Dick, JoAnn, and Sue. In college, Jacki became a member of Phi Mu sorority, Zeta Kappa chapter at Nebraska Wesleyan and majored in English Literature.
Her freshman year at Wesleyan she met a handsome senior named Jack Nispel and they fell in love. Jack graduated and took a job at Ideal Cement in Superior, Nebraska as a chemist and they married, after Jacki graduated, on June 28, 1959 in Lincoln taught briefly for the Superior School system before welcoming first child Jill in 1960, followed by Jerald and James. They transferred briefly to Wilmington, NC in 1963, before coming back to Superior. She went back to teaching in 1973 and retired from the school system in 1993. After retirement she successfully ran for and served a term on Superior's school board. Education was important to her, and she loved teaching and making an impact on her student's lives. In 1971 she was initiated into PEO, Chapter DS, in Superior and was a lifelong PEO member, her final chapter being GF in Spring, Texas.
After retirement Jack and Jacki relocated to Montgomery, Texas to be closer to family located in Houston. She got involved in the community and also tapped into her creativity by becoming known for her colorful and innovative quilts. She and Jack spent many years traveling both by barge and car across the country, enjoying exploring new places together.
Jacki is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Dick and sister JoAnn. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Nispel, daughter Jill Boullion (Patrick) who lives in Houston, son Jerry (Kelly) from Seattle, WA; and son James (LeAnn) who live in Montgomery, TX, and sister Sue Barrett of Lincoln, NE. She was dearly loved by three grandsons Todd Nispel , Seattle WA, JT Nispel (Ariel) of Keenesburg, CO, and Alex (Jasmine) Nispel of San Diego, CA and many other family members and friends.
