Christian Biography of Dr. James Louis Teachworth

Dr. James Louis Teachworth son of Kenneth and Estle (Tucker) Teachworth, was born on August 25, 1939 in Denver, Colorado. He passed away on June 23, 2012 at Superior Good Samaritan Society at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 29 days. He was born one of twin boys. His brother died at birth.

James was raised on a farm near Bostwick, Nebraska. James graduated from Guide Rock High School. Attended Kearney State College and graduated from Logan Basic College of Chiropractic, St. Louis, Missouri.

He was married to Deloris Fairbanks on July 16, 1961 at Wood River, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of three sons, Lance, Brian and Lynn.

James practiced chiropractic in Medford, Oklahoma and Lebanon, Kansas before opening his practice in Superior in 1965. He retired from practice in 2006 due to diabetic health issues, after over 24,000 different patients in his 43 years of practice.

He was active in the Superior Church of Christ, where he served in leadership for many years. Active in chiropractic professional associations, he was also instrumental in furthering the integration of chiropractic and acupuncture, recruiting Chinese physicians to develop advanced treatment techniques.

He enjoyed time with his family, bow hunting, fishing, and loved animals. He and Deloris loved to travel. James was an avid reader and loved to study, until losing his eyesight to diabetes.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his infant twin brother.

Survivors include his wife Deloris; sons Lance and wife Mollie of Superior, Nebraska; Brian and wife Michelle of Winter Park, Florida; Lynn and fiancé Ann George of Orlando, Florida; six grandchildren Laura, Sarah, and Daniel Teachworth of Superior, Chelsea and Rachel Teachworth of Winter Park, Florida and Thomas Teachworth of Orlando, Florida; cousins Teyrl Otto and wife Judy and Sharie Fischer and husband Bill of Omaha; and many patients that he loved like family.
