Christian Biography of JoAnn Simmons
Alma JoAnn Simmons, the daughter of Percy and Hazel (Runyan) Killen, was born on March 27, 1941 in Munden, Kansas. She passed away on December 29, 2014 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 9 months, 2 days.
JoAnn attended school in Superior. On November 30, 1958 she married Harlow Guy Vader and to this union three children were born, Treva Lin, Jeffery Allen and Randy Scott, they divorced. She later married Clarence Simmons on March 18, 1977 at Smith Center, Kansas and to this union Julie Ann and Jennifer Kay was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence on September 25, 2003; brother Clinton Killen and her infant granddaughter Brianna Celeste Vader.
She is survived by her children Treva Shotts and husband Gail of Superior, Nebraska; Jeff Vader and friend Angie Moody of Burr Oak, Kansas, Randy Vader of Aubrey, Texas, Julie Hoops and husband Shawn of Juniata, Nebraska and Jennifer Simmons of Superior, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, Gail Lynn Neilson of Ashland, Nebraska, Tyrell Shotts of Oceanside, California, Ashley Ann Weber, and Natalie Ranae Weber both of Lincoln, Nebraska, Anthony Eric Weber of Guide Rock, Nebraska, Jayden Simmons, Jackson Bernal and Jemma Bernal all of Superior, Nebraska, Cameron Jake Vader of Edmond, Oklahoma, Blaise Harlo Vader of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and Nevaeh Autumn Weber of Juniata, Nebraska; 2 great grandchildren Deja and Coelton Neilson both of Ashland, Nebraska; sister Wilma Roesti of Burr Oak, Kansas and brother Larry Beavers and wife Beverly of Superior, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Tom Korb officiating.
Music was "Amazing Grace," and "In The Garden," with Holly Beavers as the soloist and Carlita Price as the organist.
Pallbearers were Jerry Roesti, Mike Roesti, Steve Roesti, Tyler Roesti, Nolan Beavers, and Carl Hyde. Honorary Pallbearers were Jarett Roesti, Ron Springer, Tyrell Shotts, Cameron Vader, Blaise Vader, Jackson Bernal and Anthony Weber.
Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mankato, Kansas.
