Joanne
Grone
Jun 27, 1933 — Apr 15, 2019
In Loving Memory of Joanne Grone
Cynthia Joanne Grone was born on June 27, 1933 in Davenport, Nebraska to William and Eva (Hoover) Fuhrer. She passed away in the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, on April 15, 2019 at the age of 85. Joanne graduated from Davenport high school in 1950 and was united in marriage to Harley Grone on January 28, 1951. This union was blessed with three children: Dennis, Marcia, and Julie.
Joanne enjoyed everyday life on the farm. She lived on the same piece of land her entire life and embodied the very essence of being a farmer's wife. She was a lady of numerous talents, but one enjoyed by many was her innate ability to cook. Holiday dinners at Grandpa and Grandma's house were always something to look forward to as Joanne would cook a feast for the whole family and always made sure nobody went away from the table hungry. She cherished time with her family and also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and watching her red birds.
Joanne attended the Davenport church of Christ all her life and put on Christ in baptism at age 14. She perfectly exemplified the very nature of a servant and was a selfless woman of boundless patience. Joanne was extremely humble and often of few words, but her sweet smile always radiated with endless kindness and generosity. Joanne was a devoted Christian, virtuous wife, loving mother, nurturing grandma, caring sister, loyal friend, and "her worth was far above rubies."
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years, Harley Grone, brother, Merle Fuhrer, sister, Carlene Lambert, and daughter, Julie Lichty. She is survived by sisters: Lorita Johnson of Oshkosh, NE and Nancy (Valdean) Mileger of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law: Bea (Melvin) Behnke of Lyons, KS; brother-in-law: Hollis Grone of Davenport, NE; children: Dennis (Loma) Grone of Davenport, NE and Marcia (Charlie) Sansom of Eudora, KS; son-in-law: Lon Lichty of Carleton, NE; grandchildren: Brock Grone of Dallas, TX, Heath (Angie) Grone of Filley, NE, Hilary (Heath) Bortner of Curtis, NE, Marianne (Seth) Blackwell of Los Alamos, NM, Malissa (Justin) Hammond of Chattanooga, TN, and Mallory Sansom of Searcy, AR; great-grandchildren: Harley, Hunter, Heston, Hayes, Barrett, and Blayden; her kitty, Domino and many other relatives and friends.
