Christian Biography of Joby Hanson
Joby Dean Hanson, the son of Dick and Claudia (Hale) Hanson, was born on July 23, 1972 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on May 18, 2018 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 45 years, 9 months, 25 days.
Joby grew up in Superior attending Superior Public School and graduating from Superior High School with the class of 1990. He received his Associate Degree from Milford Technical College.
On July 15, 2000, Joby was united in marriage to his sweetheart Christin Grabast at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 2 children.
Joby owned and operated Hanson Automotive in Superior. While growing up Joby's parents always knew he would have a career in automotive repair. At around 4 years old the neighbor brought home a brand-new pickup and he disassembled every piece on the front and back of it, and then painted his mom and dad's car with a can of aluminum paint.
Joby was very active in school activities including S Club and wrestling. He loved football very much. He also was a race car driver and a jack of all trades.
His family and friends called upon him for a variety of things. He loved helping everyone in the community especially his family and friends. Recently, he has been teaching many friends how to play golf, so they could enjoy the game as much as he did. He lived life to the fullest.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club.
Joby is preceded in death by his grandfather's James Hanson and Les Hale.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife, Christin and their children Jaden and Cailey; parents Dick and Claudia Hanson and his sister Angela Garver all of Superior; his grandmothers Pauline Hanson of Deshler and Darlene Hale of Superior; grandparents Wilfred and Helen Miller of Superior; parents-in-law Doug and Peg Grabast of Superior; brother-in-law Cameron Grabast and nieces Malori and Brooklynn Grabast of Superior and nephew Brett Garver of Superior;other relatives and a host of friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Father Brad Zitek officiating. Lector was Matt Sullivan, Acolyte was Ron Rempe and Altar Servers were John Sullivan and Adin Leibel.
Music was "Here I Am Lord," "Thank-You," "Servant Song," "My Dad," and "On Eagle's Wings," provided by Ivan, Mike and Nick Miller.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Rosary Service was held Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Church.
Pallbearers were Stuart Tietjen, Mike Webber, Cameron Grabast, Neil Springer, Terry Lemke, Corey Mikkelsen, Daren Lemke, Zach Alexander, Luke Alexander, Brett Garver and Seth Going. Honorary Pallbearers were Logan Crockett, D.J. Bridwell, and Trent Rothchild.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials will go towards to his children's education.
