Christian Biography of Joy N. Nickle

Joy N. Nickle, of Hastings, formally of Superior, Nebraska passed away on January 31, 2016 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month, 23 days.


Joy was one of three children born to James Earl and Naomi Hannah (Pohlson) McClelland. She was born on December 8, 1923 on a ranch near Calhan, Colorado.


She graduated from Peyton High School, Peyton, Colorado and District #11 School of Practical Nursing, Colorado Springs, Colorado; she also attended Beth-El School of Nursing in the early 1940's. Joy was united in marriage to Francis Edward Nickle, Sr. October 29, 1943 at Fort Carson, Colorado. To this union five children were born.


Joy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis, January 25, 1999; brother; Jim McClelland, Jr. and sister; Winnie Miller.


Joy is survived by her children: Francis "Nick" Nickle Jr., Wayne Nickle and wife Kathy, Clayton Nickle and wife Stephanie all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Gary Nickle and wife Pat of Lenexa, Kansas and Pam Walton and husband Gary of Superior, Nebraska. Grand children: Kati Ruyman, Lili Nickle, Chad Nickle, Sean Nickle, Kristine Smith, Kara Compton, Brook Pecha, Jason Nickle, Kaela Heneger, Holly Link and Brett Walton. Great Grandchildren: Willa and Mexia Nickle; Mariah Urbina; Eldon Nickle; Owen and Ava Smith; Colby, Andrew and Hunter Compton, John and Aeryn Pecha; Mackenzie and Atticus Heneger and soon, Lydia Link; and a host of friends and relatives.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, February 6, 2016at 10:00 a.m. at the Megrue-Price Funral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Jeff Kimberly officiating.

Music was Amazing Grace with Carlita Price as the organist and Alicia Reed as the soloist.

Inurment at a later date in Colorado Springs.
