Christian Biography of June Persinger
June Persinger, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Bartlett) Norwood, was born on June 27, 1921 in Cadams, Nebraska. She passed away on June 18, 2012 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 11 months, 22 days.
She attended school in Nelson and Superior. On August 30, 1941 she was united in marriage to Orand Persinger in Hebron, Nebraska and to this union a son and daughter was born. June was baptized in June of 1934, and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Superior, Nebraska.
While raising her family, June was always baking and cooking for the church, she was a 4-H instructor in cooking. She was involved in her church and was on the board, she enjoyed bible study and helped with bible school and she also taught Sunday school.
June was in the birthday club and was a witness to everybody, she loved to visit and spend time with her family and friends. She also sang special music in church with her wonderful voice. She loved to travel and visit her grandchildren, especially to be a part of their graduation, birthdays and special events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orand on December 3, 1986; three brothers Virgil, Carl and Ray Norwood and three sisters Opal Soper, Pearl Brown and Fern Beckius and son-in-law Douglas Modlin.
Survivors include her son Ronald and wife Sharon of Windsor, Colorado and daughter Patricia Modlin of Harvard, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Kevin Persinger and wife Debbie, Kelly Berens and husband Keith, Karen Fuller and husband Jerry, Kerry Persinger, Kimberly Wilson and husband Paul, Brian Modlin and wife Beth, Troy Modlin and wife Haley and Amanda Modlin; 15 great grandchildren: Johnathan, Brittany, Michael, Kelsey, Kathie, Seth, Summer, Ashley, Joel, Amber, Mark, Donnie, Gabby, Katie, and Nicky, and two great great grandchildren: Joseph & Anthony; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at10:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Coleman officiating.
Music was "Beyond the Sunset," "Mansion over the Hilltop," and "In the Garden." with Darrell Miller as soloist and Carlita Erickson as accompanist.
Visitation was held on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present to greet friends from 6-8.
Pallbearers were Kevin Persinger, Brian Modlin, Troy Modlin, Paul Wilson, Gary Walton and Bill Riley. Honorary Pallbearers were Joel Wilson, Mark Modlin, Donnie Modlin, Nick Modlin and Michael Fuller.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to go to the Church of Nazarene.
