Christian Biography of Katheryn Sander
Katheryn Louise Sander, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Hokanson) Disney, was born on September 12, 1937 in Gardena, California. She passed away on May 31, 2015 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 8 months, 19 days.
Katheryn was one of four children. She was baptized in May of 1957 in the United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe by Rev. Parker. Growing up she attended Dunbar rural school and Arapahoe Public School, graduating from Arapahoe High School in 1955. After graduating she attended Beauty School, earning her cosmetology degree. She was a 58 year member of the United Methodist Church. She worshipped at First United Methodist Church in Superior for 44 years.
On July 7, 1957, Katheryn was united in marriage to Allen G. Sander in Arapahoe, Nebraska, and to this union Terry and Debra were born. She was employed as a cosmetologist for many years, retiring after 58 years.
Katheryn lived in the communities of Gardenia, California; Wilsonville, Arapahoe, and McCook, Nebraska, Beloit, Kansas and Superior, Nebraska.
Throughout her lifetime, Katheryn belonged to a Bowling team, Bridge club, Genealogy Club, United Methodist Women, and was a coordinator for the Annual Harvest Festival Dinner.
She loved researching family history, sewing, knitting, counted cross stitch projects, playing card games with her grandsons, organizing family photos and planning the annual Sander Family reunion each year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Edith; and her sister Carolyn Bowers.
She is survived by her husband Allen of Superior, Nebraska; son Terry Sander of Omaha, Nebraska; and daughter Debra Sander and husband Paul Eschliman of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandsons, Daniel Eschliman and wife Jennifer of Catonsville, Maryland; Samuel Eschliman and Matthew Eschliman both of Lincoln, Nebraska; and one brother Gerald Disney of McCook, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the First United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Jocelyn Tupper officiating.
Music was "How Great Thou Art," "Through It All," and "Blessed Assurance," vocalists were George Campbell, Dan, Sam and Matt Eschliman with Carlita Price as the accompanist.
Honorary Pallbearers we Pat Czirr, Bonnie Eckles, Maurine Clark, Sandra Bothwell, Rhea Thomsen, Deb Ostdiek, Gerry Karmazin, Betty Butler, Stephanie Fierstein, Kami Eitzmann and Lanis Jorgensen.
Inurnment will take place at 3:00 PM in the Arapahoe Memorial Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established and may be given in care of the family.
