Christian Biography of Kent Bixby

Kent Bixby, the son of Max and Hattie (Garman) Bixby, was born on October 1, 1925 in Hardy, Nebraska. He passed away on August 29, 2018 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 10 months, 28 days.

Kent graduated from the Hardy High School with the class of 1943. He was the quarterback for the Hardy Dragons Championship Football Team. Kent was enlisted in the Merchant Marines. On September 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Delores "Dee" Whitney at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior and to this marriage three sons were born.

Kent was the owner of the Bovie Express newspaper in Bovie, Minnesota in his early years. He then went to photo and engraving school in Hastings, Nebraska followed by a position at the Hastings, Tribune. It was then he and the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he to a job as general manager of the Ward Anderson Printing Company. He then took ownership of his own business, Modern Printing and owned Western Printing both in Albuquerque. In 1994 Kent and Dee moved back home to Superior where he spent his retirement. He was a member of the Toastmasters in Hastings and a member of the Superior American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kirk, and infant twin daughters Lori and Lisa.

He is survived by his wife Delores "Dee" of Superior, two sons, Dr. Greg Bixby and wife Debra of Salida, Colorado and Joel Bixby and wife Diane of Anchorage, Alaska. Four grandchildren, Jennifer Blythe and husband Jason, Erika Jones and husband Tyler, Sarah Hess and husband Seth and Nichole Bixby and partner Rodney Glenn. Six great grandchildren, Abby and Colby Jones, Kale Hess, Jillian Glenn and Easton and Owen Blythe along with a host of other relatives and friends.
