Christian Biography of Larry Francis Zitek
Larry Francis Zitek was born June 17, 1954 and called home to God on September 14, 2015. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Patty and Val Zitek. Longtime member of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ and past member of St. Joseph's Parish Lincoln, Nebraska. Larry graduated from Pius X High School in 1972. He Attended Lincoln School of Commerce and furthered his education at Lincoln Federal Savings where he learned the business of mortgage banking. An entrepreneur at heart Larry left the banking industry in 1986 moving to Kansas City to franchise several companies in the next five years. He moved his family back to Lincoln in 1991 reentering the banking world. Shortly after returning to Lincoln he started Union Bank's mortgage division. Larry left the security of the corporate banking world in 1999 to start his own company Bancwise Real Estate Solutions which evolved into Bancwise Realty. Larry sold the company one month before his diagnosis of primary brain cancer. He had already begun working on a bank consulting business which was a longtime dream. His new passion after his diagnosis was finding a way to help others fighting terminal illness. The We Care Foundation offers spiritual and financial assistance for those of all faiths.
Larry loved golfing and could think of no better way to spend an afternoon. He was a member of The Lincoln Country Club and a past member of the Firethorn Golf Club. Larry was a loving husband, wonderful father, Papa to his four grandchildren and devoted friend.
Larry is survived by his wife Brenda, daughters Stacia Zitek Heiser of Lincoln, Nebraska and Andrea Zitek Lee and her husband Christopher of Omaha, Nebraska. His four grandchildren Samantha and Hudson Heiser, Henry and Charlotte Lee. Parents Patty and Val Zitek, sisters Diane (John) Loudon and Julie (Doug) Wismer, brothers Richard Zitek and Father Brad Zitek. He will be missed by his mother and father-in-law Mona and Delmar Garrelts, sisters-in-law Beth Bamesberger and Lisa and Jerry Huismann, ten nieces and nephews.
Larry wanted to thank everyone whom prayed and offered support during his illness. Your prayers did not go unanswered. He was so very blessed.
