Christian Biography of LaVeta Rose Porter

LaVeta Rose Porter, the daughter of Hubert and Gertrude (Krebsbach) Fleck, was born on May 22, 1939, in Lawrence, Nebraska. She passed away on November 16, 2017, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 5 months, 25 days.

LaVeta attended Lawrence and Edgar Public Schools. On April 7, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Porter in Deweese, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 5 children.

LaVeta was a homemaker, and after raising her family, she worked as a janitor and assistant cook at Nelson Public Schools.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, Highland Helping Hand Club, Card Party Club, and Bridge Club. She loved playing cards with family and friends, ladies golf, gardening, and cooking for family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Vernon and wife Terri, and Ernie and wife Jeanette; 2 infant children; grandson Drew Cassell; in-laws Raymond and Floy Porter, sister-in-law Barb Fleck and brother-in-law Harold Faimon.

She is survived by her husband Ronald; children Peggy Cassell and husband Donald, Doug and wife Connie, all of Nelson, Nebraska; Randy and wife Jacki of Superior, Nebraska; Richard and wife Denise of St. Paul, Nebraska; and Pam McDermott of Hickman, Nebraska; sister Lorain Faimon of Lincoln, Nebraska; and brothers Norbert Fleck and wife Linda of Hastings, Nebraska; and Jerome Fleck of Lincoln, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.



Mass of Christian Burial will be Held in Superior at: St. Joseph Catholic Church

On: Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 am

Inurnment: Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska

Memorials: A memorial has been established, and may be given in care of the family

Book signing will be held in Nelson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Sunday, November 19th from 6-8 pm with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm
