Christian Biography of Leota Heiden
Leota Heiden, the daughter of Frank and Hannah (Ahlvers) Darling, was born on January 27, 1925 in Glen Elder, Kansas. She passed away on July 30, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 3 days.
Leota was one of 11 children. She attended school in Superior and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was united in marriage to Daryl Snell on September 15, 1946 in Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with six children. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1974. On August 6, 1977, she was married to Willis Clarence Heiden in Superior and he died on May 19, 1992.
Leota liked music and could play the accordion, piano, organ and guitar, she also liked to read and work in her garden. Leota loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She worked as a nurse's aid at the Superior Good Samaritan Center and she cared for so many in Superior for many years. She also worked at Agrex, was a custodian at John Deere, and the Vestey Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family and all her grandchildren.
She entered the Good Samaritan Society on April 13, 2013 and resided there until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Daryl Snell and Willis Heiden; brothers Wilber, Doyle and Max Darling and sisters Helen Ewer, Geneva Sloane, Irene Gholson and Joan Albertson and grandson Joel Cradick.
She is survived by her children: Terri Cradick and husband Merle of York, Nebraska; Lonie Snell and wife Peggy of Valentine, Nebraska; Tom Snell, Brenda Hoskins and friend Conel Buscher and Ginger White and husband Clifford all of Superior, Nebraska and Megon Ackerman and husband Herbert of Thayer, Nebraska; brother Rex Darling and wife Francis and Worchester, Massachusetts; and sisters Doris Baylie of Holdrege, Nebraska and Carol Clyde of Superior, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren: Daryl Hale, Melvin Hale, Doug Cradick, Becky Stodieck, Michael Hoskins, April Snell, Abby Subjeck, Tracy Cotter, Nicholas White, Brian Ackerman and Nathan Ackerman; 8 great grandchildren: Danielle Boyer, Kate Hale, Adrianna Hoskins, Brady Hale, Crystal Cradick, Shannon Cradick, Dalton Stodieck and Melah Stodieck; and 4 great great grandchildren: Wyatt, Dakota and Gage Boyer and Brody Hale; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Jon Albrecht officiating.
Visitation was held on Monday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the casket being closed per Leota's wishes.
Pallbearers were Rick Albertson, Steve Clyde, Sam Mohler, Denny Mohler, Kevin Darling, Kelvin Darling and Randy Baylie.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
