Christian Biography of Leslie D. Erickson

Leslie D. Erickson, the son of John and Gerda (Thomsen) Erickson, was born on January 3, 1923 on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on July 10, 2024 at the Kingswood Court in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 101 years, 6 months, 7 days.

Les attended Pleasant Dale Elementary and Superior High School graduating in 1941. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life Byrl Intermill, for 58 years and raised three children from this union. He was a dedicated farmer of over 70 years, who asked, "If the corn was tasseling?" on the day before he passed. He was a man of genuine kindness, self-sacrifice, and humility. He served in the military during World War II, and was stationed in Japan for one year. He loved the Cadams community and the people who lived there.

Les was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion, VFW and Danish Brotherhood. In his later years he was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing produce with all, including the mailman. Family was profoundly important, and he was never caught with an empty candy dish for the kiddos. Les had an easy smile and a positive outlook on life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Byrl on June 12, 2015, his son Kenneth, and brothers LaVern, LeRoy and Leonard. He is survived by his daughter Mel (Jim) Rempe of Superior and his son Keith (Joanne) Erickson of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mike Sander officiating.

Music was "Amazing Grace" by Ty Rempe and "How Deep the Father's Love for Us," and "How Great Thou Art," provided by Vickie Nielsen and Ivan Miller.

Pallbearers were Sam Rempe, Ty Rempe, Dave Erickson, Marc Erickson, Ron Rempe and Curt Jensen. Honorary Pallbearers were Daryl Jensen, Leo Blackstone, Ron Hofts, Kenny Corman and Kirk Erickson.

Interment with Military Honors conducted by V.F.W. Post #3355 and the American Legion St. Mihel Post #103 was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Brodstone Healthcare Foundation.
