Christian Biography of Leslie E. "Les" Hale

Leslie Eugene Hale, the son of Claude and Verna (Meadville) Hale, was born on July 25, 1923, on a farm East of Hardy, Nebraska. He passed away on October 14, 2015, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 2 months, 19 days.

Les attended school in Hardy, and when he was in High School he played the fullback position on their 6 man football team, being state champions 2 years in a row in 1937 and 1938. He graduated from Hardy High School.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Superior. On March 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Darlene Amack at the Baptist church in Superior. This union was blessed with four children.

Les was employed at Ideal Cement Plant for 39 years until his retirement. During his retirement years he worked for the City of Superior for the Park and Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Deryl and Chauncey and grandson Zachary Lervold.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Superior, Nebraska; children Robert Hale and wife Linda of Port Matilda, Pennsylvania; Claudia Hanson and husband Dick of Superior, Nebraska; Barbara Hale of Ankeny, Iowa and Craig Hale and wife Terri of Jacksonville, Florida; 9 grandchildren: Angela Garver, Joby Hanson and wife Christin, Che' Hale and wife Debra, Brian Lervold and wife Amanda, Erin Lervold, Lucas Bonner and wife Kally, Heidi Palmer and husband Kevin, Eric Hale and Nathan Hale; 12 great grandchildren: Brett Garver, Jaden and Cailey Hanson, Violet and Miranda Hale, Nathan and Daniel Lervold, Madison, Kennedy, Jackson and Teddy Palmer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Dorothy Smith officiating.

Music was congregational hymn "Amazing Grace," "Hymn Of Promise," by Claudia and Angela and recording of "Goodbye For Now," with Carlita Price as the accompanist.


Pallbearers were Joby Hanson, Brett Garver, Brian Lervold, Lucas Bonner, Jaden Hanson, Angela Garver, Heidi Palmer and Erin Lervold. Honorary Pallbearers were Phil Dean, Dwayne Bostleman and Gail Breen

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to First United Methodist Church or the Auditorium renovation.
