Christian Biography of Margaret Marie (Mortensen) Simonsen
Margaret Marie Simonsen, the daughter of Chris and Lina (Fredricksen) Mortensen, was born on February 15, 1922 on a farm north east of Hardy, Nebraska. She passed away on January 20, 2019 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 11 months, 5 days.
Margaret attended rural Church Hill near Hardy then Hardy High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Superior. She was united in marriage to Clarence Hans Simonsen on February 26, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church. This union was blessed with three children.
Throughout her lifetime, Margaret was a teacher, was employed at JCPenney's, Hesteds, the Victory Café while raising her family. She was a member of the Valley Home Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence on January 3, 1992; daughter Sharon Thieme her sister Delores Aitchinson and brother Clayton Mortensen.
Survivors include her son Lynn Simonsen and wife Deb of Lincoln, Nebraska; and daughter Linda Fullerton and husband Bruce of Superior, Nebraska; son-in-law Gary Thieme and friend Joseph Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Jason (Tina) Thieme, Melissa (Lance) Marbut, Travis (Tonya) Thieme, Janet (Justin) Birkett, Derek (Sara) Simonsen, Jared (Rebecca) Fullerton and Becky Fullerton; 15 great grandchildren: Parker, Elison, Madison, Chase, Kristyn, Christopher, Leila, Nicolas, Cameron, Lakin, Luke, Sophia, Kyalin, Bryler, Isabella; one great great granddaughter: Faith; brother Eldon Mortensen and wife Miyoko of Pueblo, Colorado; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
