Marian Kottmeyer, 97, of Kearney died Monday, May 8, 2017 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 6:00 pm Friday with a celebration of life beginning at 6:00 pm at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 11:00 am Saturday at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Superior, NE.

Memorials are suggested to the Salem Lutheran Church or CROP Hunger Walk. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marian Dorothy Kottmeyer was one of three children born to George and Mary (Schleif) Anderson on January 11, 1920 at Rural Oak, Nebraska. She was baptized January 28, 1920 by Pastor E. Lehmann and was confirmed in faith on September 3, 1933 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. G.A. Spring.

She graduated from Ruskin High School in 1937 and taught Elementary School in Thayer County for two years. Marian was united in marriage to William H. Kottmeyer on June 4, 1939 in Salem Lutheran Church in rural Superior, NE. This union was blessed with three children; daughters Barbara and Linda and son Mark.

Marian was active in the Women of the church at Salem Lutheran and enjoyed quilting and Bible study. Her hobbies were reading, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed belonging to Cadams Club when she lived in that area.

Marian is survived by her daughter Linda (Joe) Carrick of Sparks, NV; son Mark (Eileen) Kottmeyer of Kearney; grandchildren Darcie (Kern) Porter, Delcie (Randy) Garvin, Lori (John) Beck, Ann (Kane) Shirley, Ben Kottmeyer and Lee Kottmeyer; great grandchildren Stacie (Matt) Justus, Casie (Wes) Olson, Sara Beins, Lance (Erin) Garvin, Lindsay (Jason) Gerritsen; great grandchildren Mia, Jonah, and Elijah Beck, Rhett Olson, Korbin Shirley, and Jack Gerritsen; son-in-law Ron Blecha of Minden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill, daughter Barbara Sholtz Blecha; son-in-law Bill Sholtz; brother Melvin Anderson and her sister Donna Bartels.
