Marion D. Hill 1923-2025

Marion D. Hill was born September 28, 1923, to Emil and Mary Pearson in Miller, SD and peacefully passed to her heavenly home on September 9, 2025 in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 101 years and 11 months.

She was a very special Grandma, Great-grandma and Great-great grandma. Gram Hill loved to play board games and cards with them all. She was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and we all loved watching the games with everyone wearing our Bid Red shirts. GO HUSKERS! She loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. She spent many seasons hunting deer and antelope in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Her grandson helped fulfill her dream of a motorcycle ride on her 99th birthday. Her 1st car was a 1927 Chevrolet.

Marion grew up on a farm north of Miller. She married John Erwin Bauer on November 25, 1940. They had three children, Karen (Bauer) Meyer, Jon Bauer and Dale Bauer. John Erwin died of a heart attack at the young age of 50, March 16, 1965, after being the Blacksmith in Ree Heights since June 1943.

Marion married Orville J. Hill on December 4, 1965. In 1981, they retired from their ranch to an acreage in Arizona. Orville passed January 2, 1996. She moved to her condo in Geneva, Nebraska in April of 2002. As her health started to decline in 2020 she moved to Karen's home in Superior, Nebraska until her passing. She had many family members surrounding her in her last days. She did love her family. Marion was a member of the Risen Life Fellowship Church in Superior.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Meyer, 6 grandchildren and spouses, Michael (Heather) Meyer of Peyton, Colorado, Shawn (Sandy) Meyer of Davenport, Nebraska, Justin Meyer of Geneva, Nebraska, Carrey (Chris) Schottler of Chanhassen, Minnesota, John (Ashley) Bauer of Faribault, Minnesota, Shawn (Crystal) Bauer of Davenport, Nebraska; 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great- grandchildren. Many more special nieces and nephews and their families.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 1 brother, 11 brothers-in-law, 8 sisters, 3 sisters-in-law, 2 sons, Jon and Dale Bauer; and a great-grandson, J.D. Meyer.

Memorial services will be a Reck Funeral Home in Miller, South Dakota at 1:00 p.m. on September 28, 2025 and ashes buried at GAR Cemetery in Miller, South Dakota.
