Christian Biography of Mark Eugene Laybourn

Mark Eugene Laybourn, 69 of Superior, passed away July 11, 2017 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings after a battle with cancer.  Mark was born in Wiesbaden, Germany where his father who was serving in the Air Force was stationed at the time.  Due to his father's service, mark enjoyed living many places while growing up including Okinawa, Japan; Pennsylvania; Ohio; Hawaii; Wyoming and Colorado.

Growing up Mark was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman.  He was a champion wrestler, swimmer and football player.  He enjoyed all water sports, fishing, surfing and sailing and was also a scuba instructor at Kaneohe Marine Base in Hawaii.  He also enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping.  He was an avid reader and very familiar to the staff at the Superior Public Library.  He graduated from Kailua High School in Hawaii, and then attended Colorado State University.  Mark worked as and was an extremely gifted marble, granite and tile setter, an art he learned and perfected in Hawaii.  He worked for four years as a journeyman before becoming a master.

Mark moved to Superior in 2005 where he was readily accepted.  He loved his "quiet little town" and the people who live there.  He made many special friends who helped and cared for him.  Mark was considered by all to be a very kind, loving, friendly and gentle person.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his siblings, sister Lisa; brother Alan (wife, Marie); sister Julie (husband, Nassef); brother Lance (wife, Lissa); and sister Majel as well as three nieces; one nephew and five great nieces.
