Christian Biography of Marlyn Mason

Marlyn Ann Mason, the daughter of Paul and Wilma Crispin Rathbun, was born on April 29, 1947 in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on November 25, 2019 at the Valley View Health Center at Ord, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 6 months, 27 days.

She grew up with 3 siblings, attended Valley View Country School and Superior Public Schools graduating from Superior High School. She received her cosmetology degree from Kearney. She was a member of Webber Methodist Church.

She was united in marriage to Thomas R. Mason on July 7, 1968 at the Presbyterian Church in Superior. This union was blessed with 3 children. Besides being a homemaker for her family, Marlyn owned Mason's Specialty Shoppe and Kid's Korner. She spent her years after the clothing retail business pursing her sewing hobby by creating many wonderful quilts. She taught quilting classes and ran a fabric store for many years.

She spent her retirement helping raise her grandchildren Olivia and Portia Egwuatu in Bellwood, Nebraska. She also enjoyed Nascar races and had the privilege of attending a race in Kansas City one year. She belonged to a Bridge Club Group and developed a life long friendship with a wonderful group of women who spend holidays and summers together.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Wilma and her husband Thomas.

Survivors include her children Philip Thomas Mason of Lincoln, Nebraska; Amy Leigh Egwuatu and husband Lionel of Bellwood, Nebraska; and Andrew Mason and wife Jessi of Anselmo, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren Olivia and Portia Egwuatu, and Max, Ayla, and Oliver Mason; sisters Paula Hansen and husband Dix; Pat Gunn and husband Steve; and brother Thomas Rathbun and wife Gale; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Johnson officiating.

Recorded music was played.

Visitation was held on November 29, 2019 from 4-7

Pallbearers were Jared Gunn, Levi Gunn, Philip Mason, Andrew Mason, Tom Rathbun and Steve Gunn.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Webber Wide Awake 4-H Club, or Southern Nebraska Arts Council (Crest Theatre)
