Christian Biography of Martha Young

Martha Mary Young, the daughter of Dean and Barbara (LaVelle) Candea, was born on August 19, 1953 at North Platte, Nebraska. She passed away on June 28, 2018 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Martha graduated from North Platte High School and then received her bachelor's Degree in Education from Doane College in 1975. Her career began in Superior in August of 1975 where she taught for 36 years until retiring in 2011. She still was a substitute teacher to this day at the Superior Schools.

Martha was united in marriage to Byron "Ty" Young on June 16, 1979 at North Platte, Nebraska and this union was blessed with 2 daughters, Jordan and Jacey.

She was an active member of PEO and the Superior Country Club. She with her friends gathered together for the Friday night wine club.

She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, any type of card game, and reading. She was on a bowling league and enjoyed the many team trips. She was a husker volleyball fan, enjoyed swimming, going to the Casinos, and playing in many golf tournaments. For many years you could see her running the clock for the Wildcats sporting events. She was known for making the best chocolate chip cookies and of course, her Diet Coke!

She was preceded in death by her parents Dean and Barbara Candea and parents-in-law Dale & Ruby Young.

Survivors include her husband Ty and daughters Jordan of Scribner, Nebraska and Jacey of Mesa, Arizona; 2 granddaughters Paige and Brynn and her sister Candace (Candea) Edwards and her husband Dennis of Papillion, Nebraska; brother-in-law Kirk Young and wife Kim and sister-in-law Cindy Neilson and husband Jerry all of Superior, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Martha Young, age 64 of Superior, Nebraska will be on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Superior Country Club.

The family asked that for the services casual wear be worn.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in Martha's memory to the Superior Country Club, Wildcat Girls Volleyball and Basketball programs or the Crest Theater (Southern Nebraska Arts Council)
