Christian Biography of Mary Edith Berry Mumford

Mary Edith Mumford, the daughter of Ed Berry and Kathryn (Ewing) Berry Marrs, was born on September 5, 1944 in Denver, Colorado. She passed away on April 19, 2015 at the Bryan LGH Medical Center East at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 7 months, 18 days.

Mary grew up with 2 sisters and a brother. She attended schools in Nelson and Riverside, California. She was a 50 plus year member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Chester, Nebraska.


She was a member of the Red Hats Club, serving on the Chester Hubbell Byron and Thayer Central School Boards.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Kathryn; sister Donna Kay Buss and brother Ed Berry and son Christopher Eugene Mumford.

She is survived by her husband Bill; sons Tony and wife Cindy of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Bruce and wife Rachelle of Augusta, Georgia; 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Ross, Wade, Anika and Audrey; and her sister Jeannie Johnston of Nelson, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 10:30 am from the United Methodist Church in Chester, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating.

Music was congregational hymn "Amazing Grace," and "Journey In Peace," duet by Jessica and Wade Mumford with Kathy Kleveland as the accompanist.

Pallbearers were Eric Nutsch, Dallen George, Chas Cleveland, Russ Raatz, Jeff Mussman, Dan Poppe, Darren Nutsch and Tom Watt. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren Jessica, Wade, Anika, Audrey and Ross.

Private family inurnment in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in care of the family.
