Christian Biography of Mary F. Shockey-Jones Burke
Mary Frances (Shockey-Jones) Burke, the daughter of Charles and Kitty (McClanahan) Shockey, was born at her parents' home on July 22, 1940 in Galt, Missouri. She passed away on April 28, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 6 days.
Mary was one of ten children. She was united in marriage to August-Lagar Jones on September 16, 1956 in Galt, Missouri and to this union seven children were born. They later divorced and she was then married to William Peter "Bill" Burke who resides at Rosebrook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska.
Throughout her lifetime Mary had lived in the communities of Galt, Missouri; Thief River Falls, Minnesota; Guernsey, Wyoming where she lived the majority of her life, Douglas, Torrington and Cheyenne all in Wyoming; Holdrege and Superior, Nebraska.
Mary enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. She loved comedy and had an infectious laugh. She was a hard worker and was always known to be a very giving person and gave to everyone else before herself. She loved to spend time with her siblings, children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and Dennis Shockey, one sister Donna Marie Shockey, and a sister-in-law Veda Shockey.
She is survived by her husband Bill Burke of Edgar, Nebraska; and her children Maleta Mae Rueschhoff and husband Bernard of Gillette, Wyoming; Vernon Leroy Jones and wife Ginger of Guernsey, Wyoming; Janet Lynn Garrison and husband Jim of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Donald Ray Jones and wife Veva of Huachuca, Arizona; Timothy Lee Jones and wife Darlene of Gillette, Wyoming; Michael Dean Jones and wife Rhonda of Douglas, Wyoming; and Cindy Ann Jones and husband Gary Keeling of Superior, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, she is also survived by her brothers Charles S. Shockey, Jr. of Independence, Missouri; and Dick Lee Shockey and wife Monica of Torrington, Wyoming; and sisters, Marjorie Ann Fronapfel and husband Carl of Harlingen, Texas; Carol Sue Miller and husband John of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Dolly Kay Grady and husband Kevin of Sunrise Beach Missouri; and Linda Darlene Sams and husband Douglas of Boise, Idaho; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private family services were held.
