Christian Biography of Merle Duane Bayless Jones

Merle Duane Bayless Jones, the son of Vincent and Anita (Sisco) Jones, was born on February 12, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. He passed away on March 8, 2014 at his home in Nelson, Nebraska after an extended illness, at the age of 56 years, and 24 days.

Duane spent most of his young life in Carbondale, Kansas. After attending Santa Fe Tail High School, Duane served in the United States Navy. Later he attended Kaw Valley Area Vocational School, where he earned a degree in Electronics.

He loved being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and had acquired quite a collection of antiques and unusual tack. He enjoyed attending gun shows, and collecting black powder firearms.

Duane was preceded in death by his dad, Vincent Jones; a daughter, Jessica and a son, Sam.


He is survived by his mother, Anita Jones and a son, Jason (Amber) Jones, granddaughter, Josie and three grandsons, Billy, Neil and Colt; brother Tom (Linda) Jones, two sisters, Susie (Mike) Waugh and Shelley White and several nieces and nephews.

Merle Duane is also preceded in death by his dad, Merle Bayless.

He is also survived by brothers, Keith Anderson, Kenny, Kevin and Karl Bayless and two sisters, Karen Thomas and Keri Collier, all of Florida.



Memorial services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship in Carbondale, Kansas.

Memorials contributions, at Duane's request, may be made to an education fund for his grandchildren, currently at The First Security State Bank in Carbondale.
