Christian Biography of Mildred (Millie) Melton

Mildred Fawn Melton, the daughter of Cal and Clara (DeVore) Judy, was born on August 3, 1926 in Angus, Nebraska. She passed away on May 28, 2017 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 9 months, 25 days.

Mildred attended school in Angus and graduated from the Edgar High School, Edgar, Nebraska with the class of 1944. She attended the Angus Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Oak Community Church. On February 10, 1956 she was married to Ivan Melton at the Adams County Courthouse in Hastings, Nebraska.

She loved family dinners, spending time with her grandkids and being on the farm with her cows. She cared for her own cattle until age 85. She made Parkview Haven her new home in March of 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ivan Sr. on September 5, 1993; sisters, Bernice Jones and husband Orvice, Florence Jorgensen and husband Carl, brother Eldon Judy and wife Donna, nieces, Sandy Judy and Patrea Wilkensen.

Mildred is survived by her children, Susan Lorensen and husband Mike of Oak, Nebraska, Ivan Melton Jr. and wife Linda of Mankato, Kansas and John Melton and wife Deb of Oak, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Melton Bruns and husband Zach, Brock Melton, Ryan Melton, Neil Melton, Holland Lorensen, and Jens Lorensen and 3 great grandchildren, Barret and Jake Bruns and Gracelynn Lorensen along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Oak Community Church in Oak, Nebraska with Missie Wilt officiating.

Music was "Old Rugged Cross," "How Great Thou Art," "In The Garden," and "Amazing Grace," by Alfred & Janell Hanson with Cloma Corman as the organist.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 5, 2017 1-8 with family present to greet friends from 6-8.

Pallbearers were Mike Stichka, Lee Englund, Calvin Jones, Howard Schultz, Arlo Thayer, Alfred Hanson and Mark Eggers. Honorary Pallbearers were Jennifer Bruns, Zach Bruns, Holland Lorensen, Neil Melton, Jens Lorensen, Bethany Plouzek, Brock Melton, Ryan Melton, Kayley Johnson, Barrett Bruns, Jake Bruns and Gracelynn Lorensen.

Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Oak, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the Oak Community Church or Parkview Haven Nursing Home.
