Christian Biography of Mona B. Hansen

Mona Hansen, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Comstock) Striggow, was born on February 26, 1933 in Davenport, Nebraska. She passed away on June 26, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 82 years and 4 months.

Mona attended Oak grade school and graduated from Nelson High School. She was baptized in 1933 by Rev. Dumler and was a 35year member of the Methodist Church.

On March 5, 1951, Mona was united in marriage to Donald J. Hansen in Ruskin, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children. Mona worked at Northside Café as a cook and waitress for 21 years, the Edgar Nursing Home as a cook for 5 years.

She loved to bake and go camping and fishing. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important in her life.

Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hazel; husband Donald on May 23, 2006; son Gregory Hansen; brother Charles Striggow and sisters Carol Jean Schott and Alice June Andelt.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Spore and husband Chuck of Hastings, Nebraska and sons Wayne and wife Melanie of Hastings, Nebraska and Raymond and wife Mary of Gillette, Wyoming; eight grandchildren Toni Hintz and husband Justin, Brandi Oman and husband Matt, Sam Hansen and wife Tiffany, Joe Hansen and wife Kayla, April Wright and husband Chad, Brandon Spore and wife Katie, Shauna Carpenter and husband Tim and Eric Hansen; 20 great grandchildren: Emmit and Addyson Hintz, Elijah, Caiden and Madison Oman, Joe, Nolan, Kaisley, Mylee and Gavin Hansen, Nik, Nate and Lilly Spore, Hunter, Bryanna, Dylan and Carson Rayfield and Iris Carpenter. She is also survived by her sisters Bonnie Colgrove of Salina, Kansas, and Shirley Jacobitz of Hastings, Nebraska and brothers Allen Striggow and wife Mary of Olympia, Washington and Larry Striggow and wife Judy of Superior, Nebraska

Mona's wished were to donate her body to science and memorial services were held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 am from the United Methodist Church in Davenport, Nebraska with Pastor Mike Anderson and Pastor Paul Knott officiating.

Music was congregational hymns, "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace" with Lorie Hartzell as organist.

Honorary pallbearers were Toni Hintz, Brandi Oman, Sam Hansen, Joe Hansen, April Wright, Brandon Spore, Shauna Carpenter and Eric Hansen.

A family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go in care of the family.
