Christian Biography of Newell M. Wilhelms
Newell Martin Wilhelms, the son of Martin and Frederica Leonard Wilhelms, was born on January 25, 1923 in Bruning, Nebraska. He passed away on December 22, 2016 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 10 months, 27 days.
He attended the Hebron High School and Kansas State University graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Newell was inducted into the United States Navy and served from February of 1943 to January of 1946. On March 2, 1946 he was united in marriage to Helen M. Adamson at the First Christian Church in Nelson, Nebraska and to this union was born two children, Gale and Gloria.
Newell and his wife Helen raised their family in Denver, Colorado where Newell was associated for many years with Burgwin and Associate as an engineer. He later accepted and position as manager of the telephone company in Joes, Colorado and held that position until his retirement. Following retirement the couple returned to their native Nebraska and made their home in Superior. Throughout his life Newell was devoted to his family and blessed with many friends. He leaves behind many happy memories for those who survive him.
Newell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, son, Gale, daughter Gloria, a grandson Craig Oster and one brother Leonard.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie Booth and husband Greg, Tina Boring and husband Raymond, Darry Ward and Mike Wilhelms. 12 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-great-grandchildren. A daughter-in-law Cynthia Wilhelms and a son-in-law Steve Oster.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, Nebraska.
Interment with full military rites was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
