Christian Biography of Nicholas Eugene Gering

Nicholas Eugene Gering, the son of Bill and Carole (Marran) Gering was born on June 28, 1949 at Franklin, Nebraska. He passed away at the San Rafael Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 22, 2014 at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Nick attended Geneva Public Schools and graduated from Superior High School. He was a member of the Annaville Baptist Church. On July 24, 2005 he was baptized into the faith in Annaville by Pastor Robert Simmons.

Nick spent most of his life in his big rig truck traveling all over the country. He had worked for Hermann Brothers Trucking for a time and Dahlsten Truck Lines from 1989 to 2004. He lived in the communities of Superior, Corpus Christi, Texas and Beloit, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Linda Butler on January 7, 1972. This union was blessed with a daughter, Shelby. They later divorced. He loved being with friends, loved the lake and boating, sports, especially Nebraska Football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Garold Gering.

He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Gering of Beloit, Kansas, brother, Zhonzie Gering and wife Nancy of Corpus Christi, Texas and a sister, Angelia Shull and husband Dan of Big Fork, Montana. One granddaughter Jamie Rippe and husband Taylor along with nieces, April Collicott of Hastings, Nebraska, Billie Gering of Harvard, Nebraska, Dawn Byars of Corpus Christi, Texas and nephews Zhon Gering of Harvard, Nebraska, Travis Soper and wife Lisa of Canyon, Texas along with a host of friends.

Memorial services were held on February 28, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "Hey Jude," "Mr. Bojangles," "If You Could See Where I Am You Wouldn't Cry," and "I'll Fly Away."

Memorials may go to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Inurnment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, Nebraska.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
