Christian Biography of Opal Mae Todd
Opal Mae Todd, the daughter of James and Edith (Smith) Howe, was born on January 6, 1922 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She passed away on April 27, 2016 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months, 21 days.
Opal was one of eight children. She attended country school in Pawnee County, Nebraska.
On May 30, 1941 Opal was united in marriage to John O. Todd in Pawnee, Nebraska. They made their family complete by adopting seven children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sons Rex, Gene and Jim and brothers Elmer, Clifford and Leo Howe and sisters Wilma Purcell and Melva Kussman.
Opal is survived by her daughter Vicki Smith of Kearney, Nebraska, and sons Walt of Miltonville, Kansas, Wayne and wife Colleen of Hastings, and Dean and wife Jean of Kearney; 19 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren; sister Doris Worm and brother Ronald and wife Sandy of Beatrice, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Recorded Music "Old Rugged Cross," "Amazing Grace," "In The Garden," and "Precious Lord Take My Hand," was played.
Pallbearers were Richard Todd, Kyle Todd, Daniel Zade, B.T. Petty, Dan Vodicka and Justin Todd. Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Erickson, Mike Worm, Mark Worm Brent Darling and Travis Todd.
Interment was in the Courtland Cemetery at Courtland, Kansas.
