Christian Biography of Paul Pettit
Paul Alan Pettit, the son of Irvin and Ellis (Lentfer) Pettit, was born on May 25, 1936 on a farm near Burr Oak, Kansas. He passed away on April 30, 2014 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 11 months, 5 days.
He attended Jewell County Country School thru the 8 th grade and graduated from Burr Oak High School. He continued his education at the University of Colorado. Paul was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Superior since 1964.
Paul entered the United States Army on January 27, 1959 and was honorably discharged on January 26, 1961. He was united in marriage to Judith Ann McCammon at Burr Oak, Kansas.
He lived in the communities of Burr Oak, Kansas, Boulder Colorado, Red Cloud, Nebraska, Mankato, Kansas and Superior, Nebraska. He was engaged in farming and he also was the Administrator for the Jewell County Hospital for a few years. He entered the Good Samaritan Society on February 6, 2014.
He was a member of the Lions Club in Red Cloud and the Elks Club in Superior. Paul was an avid fan of the Colorado Buffalos and loved his dogs Shorty and Rastus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Alan and one sister Phyllis Schutte.
Paul is survived by his wife, Judith of Superior, Nebraska; sister Faye Brown and husband Bill of Montgomery, Minnesota; brothers Russell Pettit of Lubbock, Texas; David Pettit and wife Virginia of Mankato, Kansas; and sister Dixie West and husband Ron of Manhattan, Kansas; sister-in-law Marilyn Pettit of Torrington, Wyoming and brother-in-law Ray Schutte of Hastings, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Jocelyn Tupper and Missie Wilt officiating.
Music was "Precious Lord Take My Hand" & "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" with Carlita Price as the Organist and Stephanie Thayer as the soloist.
Visitation was held on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Pallbearers were Arnold Ross, Tony Studer, Van Smith, Jeff Guilkey, Chad McCammon and Scott McCammon. Honorary Pallbearers were Andy Montgomery, Dave Pettit, Russell Pettit, Ray Schutte, Ron West, Bill Brown and Cory Pettit.
Interment was in the Shaffer Cemetery, rural Burr Oak, Kansas
Memorials in lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to go to the Superior Good Samaritan Society.
