Christian Biography of Phyllis Joyce Irvin

Phyllis Joyce Irvin, the daughter of Carl and Mildred (Carnahan) Onstot, was born on April 16, 1915 in Riverton, Nebraska. She passed away on January 8, 2014 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 8 months, 23 days.

Phyllis was one of three children. She attended school at Riverton and graduated from Riverton High School. She was united in marriage to Kirmet Irvin on September 12, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska and to this union three children were born.

She was employed at Sears in Superior for 13 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gray Ladies, many bridge clubs and Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years.

Phyllis loved to play bridge and travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband Kirmet on January 6, 1996; and two sisters Faith Onstot and Jean Hamilton.

She is survived by her son Larry and wife Sharon of Phillipsburg, Kansas and daughters Beverly Armstrong and husband Rod of Wenatchee, Washington and Bethella Stange and husband Herb of Hutchinson, Kansas; four grandchildren, Todd Nuss and wife Aubre, Angie Landes and husband Brian, Traci Burt and husband Steve, and Corinne Goracke and husband Brian; five great grandchildren, Tia Landes, Taylor Landes, Stevie Burt, Drew and Elle Goracke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "Beyond The Sunset," and "The Old Rugged Cross," solo by Stephanie Thayer and Carlita Price as organist.

Visitation was held on Monday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers were Todd Nuss, Steve Burt, Brian Goracke, Ron Cox, Rod Armstrong, Herb Stange and Drew Goracke.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemtery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the First Presbyterian Church or Brodstone Memorial Hospital.
