Christian Biography of Ralph Leroy Platt

Ralph Leroy Platt was born February 2, 1937 to Vera Marie (Chapman) Platt on his grandparent's farm at Webber, Kansas.

Ralph attended school in Bostwick country school northeast of Superior and Superior High School.  Sonny as he was called by his relation and friends. He worked many jobs in his life, farming with the granddad, where at the age of 9 years he learned to run tractors and care for livestock. He loved horses and was an accomplished rider. He worked construction and some of his accomplishments he was proud of were helping to build two grain elevators in Topeka, Kansas and the North Ward school. He enjoyed his time he spent in Missouri, where his daughter was born and often talked about Missouri and the friends he made there.

He returned to Superior in 1960 and worked for Bill Morris Ford. It was here he met the Love of his Life, Helen Ahrens. They were married in 1962, a marriage that lasted many years. In his later years he was an over the road trucker-crop sprayer and was employed at Superior Deshler.

After retirement he enjoyed helping harvest for the Simonsen family. He also enjoyed spending time with Helen and at Lovewell Lake.

Ralph was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother and step-dad, his daughter Melody and a grandson Adam, along with a sister Doris.

He is survived by his wife Helen, one sister Linda, granddaughter Ashley and a great granddaughter.

Ralph's favorite saying was "I was born poor, lived poor and died poor," which he did August 6, 2021 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

Arrangements by Megrue-Price Funeral Home as he requested there was no funeral only a private graveside service.
