Christian Biography of Ray E. Clark

Ray Eldon Clark, the son of Dorman and Bula (Aurand) Clark, was born on September 17, 1930 in Republic County, Kansas. He passed away on April 13, 2014 at his home near Hardy, Nebraska, due to complications of Parkinson's for 24 years, and cancer, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 27 days.

He attended Rosemound rural school through the 8 ^th grade and graduated from Hardy High School with the class of 1948. He was united in marriage to Donna Marie Topliff in Lovewell, Kansas on February 3, 1952. Four sons were born to this union, Samuel Ray, Thomas Joe, John Dorman, and Jack Lee.

Ray was inducted into the United States Army in July 1952 and served with the 6 ^th armored division, serving until July of 1954. He moved to the family home 4 miles south of where he was raised in 1955 and spent the rest of his life there farming. He was very happy when 3 of his Grandsons Wes, Thayne and Tyler chose farming for their life work.

In 1982 after the tragic death of his father, he found a hobby of toy collecting, customizing and building toy tractors and combines that he spent many years enjoying. His family enjoyed his many toy combines that he hand crafted from scratch and was very proud of.

Ray and Donna were members of the Republic County Egg Club during the years they raised 3000 laying hens. Ray was also a Past Board Member of the Hardy Coop, Rosemound School and Cemetery.

He loved his family and was happiest when the whole crew would come for Sunday dinner and also celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. He had a contagious smile and loved to tease.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Juanita Clark Laughlin and one infant brother Harry.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife Donna Clark of 62 years, sons Sam of Hardy, Nebraska, Tom (Karla) of Courtland, Kansas, John (Trudy) of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jack (Kaylene) of Courtland, Kansas; nine grandchildren: Nick Clark (Janice), Jamie Hammond (Andrew), Dustin Scott, Kim Clark, Wes Clark (Cortney), Thayne Clark (Lacey), Andrew Clark (Allie), Tyler Clark and Kayce Clark; 6 great grandchildren: Ben Hammond, Isabel Clark, Reid Hammond, Emma Clark, Kennedy Clark, and Baby girl Clark due next week; sister Winnie Sayre (Robert) of El Cerito, California and brother Ralph Clark (Maureen) of Courtland, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Missie Wilt officiating.

Music was "I Watch the Sunrise" sung by Kim Clark and recordings "What a Wonderful World," and "Big Green Tractor," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic," with Carlita Price as the organist.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family present to greet friends from 5-7.

Pallbearers were Nick Clark, Jamie Hammond, Andy Clark, Tyler Clark, Dustin Scott, Kim Clark, Wes Clark, Thayne Clark and Kayce Clark.

Interment with Military Honors was in the Rosemound Cemetery, south Hardy, Nebraska.
