Richard's Obituary

Richard L. "Dick" Brethour, age 80, passed away on June 9, 2025, at Banner University Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on August 14, 1944, to Richard L & Selma M (Ullrich) Brethour in Meridian, Mississippi, where his father was stationed with the US Army Air Corps. They returned to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in November 1945. Dick attended Scottsbluff schools graduating from Scottsbluff HS in 1962 and Scottsbluff Jr College in 1964. He finished his education at Chadron State College with a degree in Business Administration and Economics in 1966. He was a Manufacturing Manager of medical devices for most of his career.

He met his future wife at Chadron State College and they were married on June 20, 1965. He passed away 11 days before their 60th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Cooper Alan Brethour.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Ann (Williams) Brethour, his sons Richard (Lisa) Brethour and Michael (Katie) Brethour, four grandchildren – Isabel, Logan, Andrew and Ivy Brethour, sister Gail (John) Koenig and numerous relatives and friends.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Nelson City Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska with Royce Schott officiating.
