Christian Biography of Richard Eugene Carpenter

Richard Eugene Carpenter, the son of Oscar and Edna (Moyer) Carpenter, was born on January 9, 1949 in Beloit, Kansas. He passed away on July 1, 2018 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 69 years, 5 months, 22 days.

Rick was one of 3 children. He attended school in Superior graduating from Superior High School and furthered his education at Fairbury Junior College.

He married Edna Rose Johnson on December 28, 1972 at Scandia, Kansas. This union was blessed with 3 children, Jason, Mandy, and Mackenzie. They later divorced. He married Pamela Moeller on September 1, 1984 at Overbrook, Kansas and this union was blessed with 2 children Kristan, and Shaun. They also divorced.

Rick was a DJ and Entrepreneur. He learned to paint, and enjoyed woodworking, he liked to drink beer and mow the lawn. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Clubs and the V.E.T.S. During his lifetime he lived in the communities of Mankato, Kansas, Superior and Fairbury, Nebraska; Osage City, Emporia and Topeka, Kansas.

Due to his health, he entered the Superior Good Samaritan Society in November of 2013, where he resided until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edna.

Survivors include his children Jason Hobson and wife Rebecca of Warrenton, Virginia; Mandy Kamykowski and husband Chris of St. Louis, Missouri; Mackenzie Oberst and husband Justin of Omaha, Nebraska; Kristan Krout and husband Brandon of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Shaun Carpenter of Superior, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren Levi, Axel, Logan, Austen, Samuel, Penelope, and Holden. Also, survived by his brother Gerald Carpenter and wife Betty and sister Connie Hayes and husband Calvin both of Superior, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services with Military Honors were held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 10:30 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.

Music was recordings of "What A Wonderful World", "Yesterday" and "Dust In The Wind."

Pallbearers were Shaun Carpenter, Jason Hobson, Jim Woerner, Levi Koss, Jon Combs, Norman Hayes, Mike Turner and Nate Steinman. Honorary Pallbearers were Todd Hayes,

Troy Hayes, Jim Curfman, Gerald Carpenter, Mick White and Richard Wilton.

Interment was in the Esbon Cemetery at Esbon, Kansas.
