Christian Biography of Richard "Dick" Edward Fish

Richard Edward Fish, son of Norwood Edward and Alice Mary (Winterfeld) Fish, was born on October 20, 1940 on a farm near Ulysses, Nebraska. He passed away on July 23, 2014 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 3 days.

Dick attended Surprise Elementary School, graduated from Rising City High School, and received his Associate's Degree from Nebraska Business Institute. He began serving his country in the United States Navy on February 28, 1958, and was honorably discharged on October 19, 1961. On October 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Shaffer in Belleville, Kansas.

Dick was employed at Ideal Basic Industries/Holcim from 1963 until his retirement in 2010.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, American Legion, and was a charter member of the Republican Valley Bird Watchers. During his lifetime, Dick lived in the communities of Surprise, Lincoln, and Superior, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Bill Lloyd.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Jacqueline Jean Porter and husband Randy, all of Superior, Nebraska; son Richard Edward Fish and wife Joni of Englewood, Colorado; five grandchildren Kayla Renae (Porter) Grove and husband Brady, Ross Andrew Porter, Emily Elizabeth Fish, Kathryn Anne Fish, and Elizabeth Grace Fish; sister Joann Marie (Fish) Lloyd of Belton, Texas; brother William Harry Fish and wife Sue of Pipe Creek, Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Mass of Christian Burial at: St Joseph's Catholic Church,Superior, Nebraska

Time of Service: Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.

Clergy: Rev. Brad Zitek

Burial with Full Military Honors: Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska

Memorials: A memorial will be established, and may be given in care of the family

Visitation: From 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home

Rosary Service: Friday 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church
