Christian Biography of Rick Johanson

Rickey David Johanson, the son of Don and Betty (Davidson) Johanson, was born on December 25, 1953 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on March 18, 2014 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 2 months, 21 days.

Rick attended grade school through the eighth grade at Portland Heights and Superior High School graduating with the class of 1972. After high school, Rick attended one year of college.

He was united in marriage to Christine Martin on September 4, 1977 at the Baptist Church in Superior, Nebraska and to this union five children were born. Rick was employed at Ideal Cement, Alexander Motors and Ideal Market all in Superior. They moved to Clay Center, Nebraska in 1999 where Rick was employed at Thermo King in Hastings and later making Hastings their home in 2004. They moved back to their home town of Superior in 2007, to manage the Victorian Inn and later worked for the Railroad Express transporting railcrew for the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, legion baseball and Husker football and never missed any of his kids activities.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty on February 9, 2011; sister, Gloria Klabunde and infant sister, Judy Johanson.

He is survived by his father, Don Johanson, wife Christine Johanson all of Superior, Nebraska; daughters Hillary DuFour and husband Bryan of Edwardsburg, Michigan; Brandi Pearson and husband Uriah of Kearney, Nebraska; and Britni Johanson of Hastings, Nebraska; sons Nikolaus and wife Betsy of Palisade, Nebraska; and Arick and wife Kacy of Beloit, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Gradyn and Ryker Pearson, Mason and Jubilee Johanson, Nathalie, Nanette and Brady DuFour, and Dane Johanson; two brothers, Steve and wife Cathy of Bennet, Nebraska and Jeff of Lincoln, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.


Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Superior Church of Christ in Superior, Nebraska with Dr. Jeff Collins officiating.

Music was congregational hymns, "10,000 Reasons" and "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone" with Paula Renz as the accompanist.

A book signing was held on Friday, March 21, 2104 with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Honorary Pallbearers were Blaine Hansen, Ron Wallace, Jim Mitchell, Monica Braun, Danny Jackson, Jim Zoltenko, Steve Hiatt and Don Duncan.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
