Christian Biography of Robert "Bob" Cochran



Robert George Cochran, the son of Irl and Alma (Andersen) Cochran, was born on January 30, 1932 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on September 20, 2014 in Blythe, California at the age of 82 years, 7 months, 21 days.

Bob was a graduate of Superior High School. Bob left Superior for Northern California and worked on the railroad. He married Louise Mae Sneller on June 25, 1952 in Mill Valley, California, and to this union a son and daughter were born. The family returned to Superior in 1955 to raise Virgil and Elaine near his parents and the other grandparents, Roy and Mildred Sneller of Jewell, Kansas. The marriage ended in divorce.



He was employed by Ideal Cement in Superior retiring after several years of employment. He took over Irl's electrical repair business in addition to working at the cement plant and installed a lot of bulk milk tanks in the Superior area. He farmed the family farm, which was homesteaded by Bob's grandparents, Irvin and Mary Cochran, seven miles north of Superior. This is where his father Irl was born. He lived on and farmed the Amack place in the 70's and 80's until he sold the family farm,

During his lifetime Bob lived in Superior, Nebraska, San Rafael, California, Burr Oak, Kansas, Deming, New Mexico, Quartzsite, Arizona and Blythe, California.

Bob loved the outdoors; he enjoyed camping, hiking, rockhounding, fishing, hunting and 4-wheel driving. He was interested in natural foods and organic/natural farming. He was an avid reader and took daily walks until his stroke in March of 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother George Cochran and sister Beverly Cochran, and an uncle, Harold Andersen.

He is survived by his daughter J. Elaine Cochran Pierson and husband John of Olathe, Colorado and son Virgil Cochran of Lamar, Colorado; two grandchildren Robert and Richard Williams of Montrose, Colorado; four nephews, Beverly Cochran's sons, three living in California the other in North Carolina; other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside Memorial service with Masonic Rites were held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM from the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Johnson officiating.

Inurnment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the nearest Shriner Hospital.
