Christian Biography of Robert B. Woerner, Jr.

Robert (Bob) B. Woerner, Jr, the son of Robert and Carmitia (Bush) Woerner, was born on October 10, 1922 on a farm between Bostwick and Superior, Nebraska.  He passed away on August 23, 2019 in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 10 months, 13 days.

Bob graduated from Superior High School and took agricultural short courses in the winter at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On January 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Darlene Thomas at Olive Hill Church south of Superior, Nebraska and to this union five children were born.

Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Odd Fellows, lifetime member of Farmers Union, Eagles, Elks, Sod Buster Camping Club, Fairfield Square Dance Club, and was a 4-H leader of the Alban and Saddle Tramps Clubs.  Bob and Darlene spent time camping, fishing, watching the Huskers, and wintered in Mesa, Arizona. From their first date they danced and waltzed their way through 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Family and farming/ranching were his life. He was a wonderful storyteller, and enjoyed playing card games and dominos. An early adopter of no-till farming, Bob won an award for his conservation practices, and he was proud of the prize-winning cattle and horses he raised.  He loved to tell jokes and laugh.  Bob resided the last few years in an apartment at Kingswood Court where he adored the staff and care they provided him.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, parents, brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Kathryn

Woerner, brother and sister-in-law Pleasant and Helen Woerner, sister Betty Ann Carter, and niece, Joyce and husband Marvin Reedy, and one sister-in-law Ruth Jensen.

He is survived by children, Linda Hall and husband Terry of Mesa Arizona, Duane Woerner and wife Barbara of Superior, Nebraska, Beverly Mayfield and husband Rick of Beatrice, Nebraska, Marsha Kinyoun and husband Jeff of Superior, Nebraska, and Beth Woerner Wyatt and husband Robert of San Tan Valley, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Becky Busboom and fiancé Dustin Fischer, Aadel Bussinger and husband Jay, Vanessa Pruitt, Tracy Sunquist and husband Jason Sunquist, Amber Nelson and husband Eli Resnick, Annie Vaiskunas and husband Spencer, Jessica Miller and husband Luke, and Michael Kinyoun and wife Mary; 12 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Betty Sybert of Savannah, Missouri and a brother-in-law, Bill Thomas and  wife Barb of Mankato, Kansas along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:30 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "In The Garden," and "How Great Thou Art" sung by Joyce Morgan with Carlita Price as her accompanist and the recording of "Can I Have This Dance."

Pallbearers will be Tracy and Jason Sunquist, Amber Nelson, Becky Busboom, Dustin Fischer, Annie

and Spencer Vaiskunas, Jessica and Luke Miller, Michael and Mary Kinyoun, Kealey Donner and Taylor Donner.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials can be made to Superior Auditorium Restoration Foundation or First Presbyterian Church in Superior.
