Christian Biography of Roland "Short" Shambaugh
Roland "Short" Lee Shambaugh, the son of James and Lynn (Bramwell) Shambaugh, was born on March 16, 1942 in Bostwick, Nebraska. He passed away on May 23, 2024 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 2 months, 7 days.
Short attended Sandy Knob School and Guide Rock High School graduating with the class of 1959. He was a 61-year member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, being baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith by Father O'Connor. He was united in marriage to Carol Sullivan on November 27, 1963. This union was blessed with two daughters Monica and Mary.
Short was a dedicated farm laborer working in the past for Randy Rhoads, Bill Erickson, Joe Barnason, and up until his passing for Darrell Kile. He also worked for Coca-Cola and Ideal Cement Company. He loved to dance, play cards, can, tend to cattle, spending time with his family and having a good drink. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Carolyn (Ray) Rouse, Bill (Wanda) Shambaugh, Ruth Jensen, Dallas (Jan) Shambaugh and Doris (Clem) Carr.
Survivors include his wife Carol; daughters Monica Shambaugh and wife Kathy of Scottsbluff and Mary Mitchell and husband Eric of Hebron; his sister Neita (Les) Hoins; six grandchildren: Joshua Shambaugh, Colby (Stephanie) Holtzen Mitchell, Michelle (Jake) Campbell, Charlie Mitchell, Sarah (Alan) Maisonet and Erik Melvin; and four great grandchildren: Kyson and Theodore Holtzen-Mitchell and Jackson and Samantha Maisonet; brother-in-law Roy Jensen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Rosary Services: Monday, May 27, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home

Visitation: Will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm
