Christian Biography of Ronald Thompson

Ronald Dennis Thompson, the son of Ward and Shirley (Springer) Thompson, was born on February 12, 1943 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on April 20, 2025 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 2 months, 8 days.

Ron was one of four siblings growing up in Superior. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church being a lifetime member. He attended Superior schools and was a 1961Superior High School graduate. He served in the United States Air Force from January 3, 1964 to June 10,1967. He was united in marriage to Dee Nelson on December 20, 1969, at the United Methodist Church in Superior, this union was blessed with three children.

Ron attended UNL earning his bachelor degree in business in 1970, and continued to receive his Doctorate in Dentistry in 1977.

Ron served on the Utilities Board, and Board of Public Works for 8 years, he was a member of the Nebraska Dental Association, and President of Southeast District. He was a member of the Superior Country Club, Kiwanis, American Legion and the Elks Club.

He enjoyed making and playing the guitar, golfing and of course his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He enjoyed reading books, wood working, rock and coin collecting, attending auctions, and collecting antiques, playing poker with friends. Later in life he owned and operated Main Street Clothing from 1987-1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ward and Shirley, in laws Dr. R.J. and Nelda (Sanner) Nelson, sister Cheryl (Doug)Warren and brother Justin Thompson.

Survivors include is wife Dee of Superior, his children John Thompson of Omaha, Ann Thompson of Duluth, MN and Joel Thompson of Mankato, MN; five grandchildren Kennan, Andrew and Scotty Reyelts, Bodhi Thompson and Isabel Thompson; his brother Robert and sister-in-law Barb Thompson both of Superior; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
