Christian Biography of Roy Fullerton
Elmer Leroy Fullerton, the son of William and Ruby (Hancock) Fullerton, was born on January 28, 1931 in Montrose, Kansas. He passed away on January 16, 2021 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 11 months, 19 days.
Roy grew up into a large family with his 17 siblings. He attended school at Montrose, Kansas. On November 6, 1948 he was inducted into the United States Armed Forces, serving during the Korean War, and assigned to the CO "L" 26 th Infantry 1 st division. He was honorably discharged on August 2, 1952.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Oliver on December 30, 1955 at Fairbury, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 3 children. Throughout his lifetime, he was employed at Christensen's Implement, Alexander Motors, Sidles Automotive and retiring from Mid America Dairy. He enjoyed camping, traveling, boating/skiing, roller skating, hunting, fishing, carpentry and mechanic work. He was a member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby; daughter, Cynthia Fullerton; 7 brothers Donald, LaVern, 3 infant brothers, Lyle and Dean.; and 3 sisters Bernice Boecher, Neva Wharton and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife Joyce; his son Bruce (Linda) Fullerton of Superior; and daughter Rita Higer of Republic, Missouri; 5 grandchildren: Tristyn Higer, Crisha Higer Mullins (David), Joshua (Emily) Fullerton, Jared Fullerton, Rebecca "Becky" Fullerton; 10 great grandchildren: Vance, Bradlee, Madison, Kenley, Kellan, Sophia, Isabella, Kyalin, Bryler, Stella and Maverick; and his siblings Phyllis Ohmstead of Emporia, Kansas, Norma Eitzmann of Superior; Yvonne Blair of Superior; Joyce McElroy of Ulysses, Kansas; Claudine Fullerton of Superior; David Fullerton of Mankato, Kansas; and Brenda Moser of Hugoton, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
