Christian Biography of Ruby E. Soukop

Ruby Evelyn Soukop, the daughter of Pearl and Hattie (Taylor) Sibert, was born on November 6, 1922 on a farm in Jewell, Kansas. She passed away on January 14, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 2 months, 8 days.

Ruby attended Superior Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She worked a number of years in the Butter Department at the Armour Plant.

She was united in marriage to Henry J. Soukop on September 21, 1941 in Mankato, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. Henry worked at Ideal Cement Plant and served his time in WW II.

Ruby loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning and her many trips to Hastings together with her family. She loved to cook and made the best fried chicken.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry on April 9, 2007, sister Fern Larson, three brothers Raymond, Kenneth and Lloyd Sibert and great grandson Kalen Schiermeyer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Schiermeyer and husband Robert and Connie Laluk and husband Adolph all of Superior and son, Jerry Soukop and wife Susan of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Curtis Schiermeyer and friend Deb, Allen Schiermeyer and wife Kelly all of Nelson, Nebraska, Brian Schiermeyer and wife Julie of St. Joseph, Missouri, Troy Laluk and wife Cynthia of Shawnee, Kansas, Terry Laluk and wife Cris of Gretna, Nebraska, Brent Soukop and wife Cara of Centennial, Colorado, Debra Vela and husband Max of Westminister, Colorado and Shelly Kile and husband Jahn of Hastings, Nebraska; 13 great grandchildren Kendra and Eric Schiermeyer of Nelson, Nebraska, Brandon and Collin Schiermeyer of St. Joseph, Missouri, Avery, Jordan and Brianne Laluk of Shawnee, Kansas, Andrew, Chase and Abi Laluk of Gretna, Nebraska, Sierra and Jaylen Kile of Hastings, Nebraska and Kailee and Vincent Vela of Westminister, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Floyd Richardson officiating.

Music was "One Day at a Time," "Wind Beneath My Wings." and "How Great Thou Art," with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as accompanist

Visitation was held on Friday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers were Curtis Schiermeyer, Allen Schiermeyer, Brian Schiermeyer, Troy Laluk, Terry Laluk and Brent Soukop. Honorary Pallbearers were Jahn Kile, Adolph Laluk, Robert Schiermeyer and Max Vela.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the First Baptist Church.
