Christian Biography of Ruth Byland

Ruth A. (Johnston) Byland passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the age of 88 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska. She was living at the Victorian Legacy in Superior, Nebraska at the time of her passing.

Ruth was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on June 12, 1931, to Louisa (Snyder) and Robert Johnston.

In July 1951 she married Dwight Ginther to this union 4 children were born. Robert Ginther, Omaha, Nebraska; Vivian Cole, Superior, Nebraska; Geralyn Dailey, Oregon City, Oregon; and Muriel Wagner, Superior, Nebraska. The marriage ended in divorce. She later married Norman Byland. They made their home in Hastings and Aurora where they managed motels. They moved to Superior, Nebraska at the time of their retirement.

Ruth loved to crochet, making afghans for family and friends. She loved watching football especially Nebraska and could recite the script of the Golden Girls all four charters. Ruth learned to play the piano "on her Daddy's knee" as she would say. This talent she enjoyed the rest of her life.

She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, 3 grandchildren and both of her husbands.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from the Superior Church of Christ in Superior, NE at 10:00 am with Pastor Mike Sander officiating.

A family graveside service will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will go the family to help with funeral expenses.
