Christian Biography of Shelly R. Harris
Shelly Rae Harris, the daughter of Nelson and Pauline Jane (Bernard) Harris, was born on May 18, 1952 in Beloit, Kansas. She passed away on March 6, 2020 at the Holiday Resort Health and Rehab at Salina, Kansas at the age of 67 years, 9 months, 17 days.
Shelly attended school in Burr Oak, Kansas, graduating from Burr Oak High School with the class of 1970. She attended Fort Hays State University and graduated from Kansas State University.
Shelly owned a kennel business for many years, raising dogs. She had a great love of the outdoors, especially deer hunting and with her dad. She loved working with children and was a Girl Scout executive in Salina, Kansas. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Burr Oak, an alumna of Kansas State University, a Life Member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, and a member of the Emory Clemons American Legion Auxiliary Unit #263.
Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Jane Harris. Survivors include one aunt Berniece Harris, many cousins, friends, and her faithful companion of many years her dog, Piper.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the First United Methodist Church in Burr Oak, Kansas with Pastor Les Ellis officiating.
Music will be "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," and "Whispering Hope," with Wylie Pumarlo as the vocalist and Carlita Price as his accompanist.
Visitation on March 12, 2020 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm before the funeral.
Pallbearers will be Jim Harris, Jerry Harris, Elliott Harris, Mike Harris, Wyatt Harris and Morgan Harris.
Interment in the Burr Oak Cemetery at Burr Oak, Kansas.
Memorials contributions will go to the Ashby House or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center both in Salina, Kansas and may be addressed to the Funeral Home.
