Christian Biography of Shelta M. Holman
Shelta Marie Holman, the daughter of John and Janie Woods was born on October 22, 1930 in Nicholas County, West Virginia. She passed away on May 5, 2016 at the Kensington Senior Living Community in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 4 months, 14 days.
On May 30, 1959, she was united in marriage to Aldean Holman at Ventura, California. Shelta enjoyed traveling, sewing, camping and boating. Her family was very important to her. She loved to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She worked in several different places including the Technology Instrument Corporation in Newberry Park, California, at Catalina Swimsuits in California where she would sew and model the clothing line and one of her favorites was Wendy's where the staff was like family to her. When she was younger, probably in the early 1950's she used to listen to a local radio program and they were having a write in contest of poems. Shelta sent in her entry and won $50 for the poem, "When you get left out in the cold, a diamond ring is worth more than gold".
Shelta was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Theanna, her husband Aldean Holman on September 9, 2015, brothers, Willie and James and sisters, Armetha, Delcie, Molly, Lucinda and Welda.
Survivors include her; sons Steve McKinney and wife Barbara of Prescott, Arizona and Larry Holman and wife Diane of Pine Grove, California; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and host of friends.
Graveside services were held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Spring Creek Cemetery in Ruskin, Nebraska with David Johnson officiating.
Recorded music was "Amazing Grace" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot".
Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to go the Prescott Community Church, Prescott, Arizona in care of the family
